The agreement sees him join the Sky Blues on loan until January, before made permanent for an undisclosed fee.

However, it is understood the figure is £500,000, with Coventry fighting off late interest from Barnsley to recruit the 21-year-old.

Chaplin was a popular figure at Fratton Park, scoring 25 times in 122 appearances.

However, he had fallen out of Kenny Jackett's first-team reckoning, featuring for just 24 minutes this season.
