And this is emphasised when you say something which really shows your age - like if you mention the ‘ABC Roundabout’, which no young person today will know what you are talking about. It was, after all, demolished in 2002!
There are so many examples of things Pompey residents say or have done which really does show our age. Here are just a few!

9. Who else has whizzed around the circular road at the Tricorn
The gone, but never forgotten, Tricorn Centre was demolished in 2004. But there still remains many of us with fond memories of whizzing around the circular road to head into the carpark! Pictured: The Tricorn's parking area in November 1988.The News PP4180 Photo: The News archive

10. Do you remember the great dinosaur disaster
Remember when there was a dinosaur in Portsmouth? Okay, maybe not a real one. But the 53-foot high ‘Southsea Dinosaur’, want to Southsea Common as part of an art tour and was widely admired! Devastatingly, it burned down in 2011 due to an electrical fault. Today there is a little Luna Park statue dedicated to her. It is being temporarily housed at Gunwharf while the sea defence works are carried out. Then it will return home to the Common next year. | The News Photo: Steve Reid

11. Remembering the city's changing schools
There have been many changes at all of the city's schools, with new buildings and re-namings over the years. The all-girls and all-boys secondary schools have also disappeared, and new schools also built to tackle what was once a shortage of places. Many of us will remember when Mayfield School looked like this for example. But now it has been completely transformed into an all-through primary and secondary school with brand new buildings. | The News
