A night at the dogs was a great Portsmouth tradition - and the greyhound stadium at Tipner had as much history as any track in the country.
Opened in 1930, it hosted races for several decades until Portsmouth City Council's long-term lease came to an end and the site was sold.
The last meeting took place in March 2010, and the stadium was demolished in 2012. Now, after years of the landed being treated and cleaned, work is under way to build a £120m, 800-home development, that will be known as Tipner East. For now, though, we can look back through these pictures, turn back time, and remember when going to the dogs was something to look forward to, not to fear.
