If so, you’re probably a child of the 60s or 70s, when those dishes - otherwise known as fruit slice and tapioca pudding - were school dinner staples.
Pizza was off the menu then, pasta and rice were rarities, and it was a long time before the days of Turkey Twizzlers.
Instead, pupils filled themselves up with a diet rich in potatoes, pastry and bread.
Many people have fond memories of school dinners in the 60s and 70s, which often consisted of meat and two veg.
At most schools, there was little in the way of processed food, with everything cooked from scratch on the day, using fresh ingredients.
Echoing the sentiments of many, one person recalled: “I loved those warm, filling, wholesome meals. There weren't as many overweight children back then, either, even though we ate desserts, because we all played outside, getting fresh air and exercise.”
Of course, some dishes, both savoury and sweet, were more popular than others.
Below are 13 of the best-loved - and most-dreaded - school dinner staples that you might remember from the 60s and 70s.

5. Blancmange
It never looked this fancy, but blancmange was a school dinner staple in the 60s and 70s. The dessert came in various flavours and colours but was always made with milk, cream and sugar, and had a slight wobble when done properly. Some children loved it, but others couldn't stand the texture, with the consistency sometimes compared to that of a rubber ball. | Evening Courier, Halifax

6. Suet pudding
Suet pudding was a dish many schoolchildren of the 60s and 70s looked forward to each week.
