The Yoto Player has become part of our son’s daily routine while helping us cut down on screen time.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from the Yoto Player + Harry Potter Bundle at first, but it’s honestly been one of the best things we’ve bought for my son. I originally wanted to get him away from spending so much time on his iPad and thought traditional reading would be the answer. In the end, the Yoto Player turned out to be the perfect middle ground, and I’ve completely changed my mind about audiobooks for kids.

My son absolutely loves it. He listens to the Harry Potter stories everywhere in the bath, relaxing on his bed, and even in the car. Stephen Fry’s narration is so calming and engaging that I enjoy listening along too. The Harry Potter bundle was the ideal starting point because the stories really capture his imagination, and having the first three books included meant he could jump straight into the Hogwarts adventure.

What surprised me most is how much more independent it’s made him. He can easily choose what he wants to listen to himself, whether it’s the books, the built-in Yoto Radio and games or the sleep sounds he now uses every single night. The night light feature has also become part of his bedtime routine, and it’s nice having an all-in-one device that feels safe and child-friendly.

Yoto has become one of those brands many parents seem to discover and then suddenly start hearing about everywhere. The screen-free audio players have built a loyal following by giving children stories, music, learning content and podcasts without putting another tablet or phone in front of them. Using physical cards that slot straight into the player, even younger children can choose what they want to listen to themselves, with a library now stretching to more than 1,000 titles including favourites such as Harry Potter, The Gruffalo and music from major artists.

Yoto has also been creating its own growing catalogue of exclusive content through Yoto Studios, bringing together authors, musicians, voice actors and sound designers to produce original audio made specifically for children. The brand is now putting that work in the spotlight with its first-ever Yoto Originals Week, which includes 14 new UK titles and discounts across the Yoto Originals range.

Setting up the app was straightforward thanks to the included instruction card, and everything connected quickly. The only thing I still need to figure out is pairing it with his wireless headphones, but that’s a small issue compared to how much use he gets out of it.

I’d also highly recommend getting the Adventure Jacket because it makes carrying the player around much easier and gives it a bit of extra protection when kids are taking it everywhere.

Overall, we’re both really happy with the Yoto Player. My son genuinely gave it “10/10,” and we’re already looking at adding more cards to the collection. He’s even added the ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ cards and the card holder to his birthday list already. It’s been a brilliant way to encourage storytelling, imagination, and quiet time without relying on screens.
