Meet Bobbi, Hampshire Police's AI officer nominated for an award

The AI agent makes it easier to access police services in a non-emergency

A new AI agent created by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary and Thames Valley Police has received national recognition after being shortlisted at the NPCC Innovation and Digital Awards 2026.

Developed in partnership with Salesforce and Humberside Police, Bobbi provides members of the public with a natural, conversational way to access police services, resolve enquiries and receive support online, as well escalate enquiries to trained professionals whenever required.

The initiative was introduced to help meet growing public demand for fast and accessible services while reducing pressure on 101 service, the Police’s non-emergency phone line. Before it was launched, Bobbi underwent extensive development and testing, involving more than 1,500 test questions, 200 participants and 1,200 live conversations.

Since going live, Bobbi has managed thousands of interactions with the public and has resolved more than 75 per cent of its enquiries without the need for any human intervention.

Chief Superintendent Clare Knibbs, said: "To be shortlisted at the NPCC Innovation and Digital Awards is a fantastic achievement and a reflection of the hard work, collaboration and innovation shown by everyone involved in delivering Bobbi.

"From the outset, our aim was to improve the experience of those who contact us, making it easier for people to access information and support while allowing our contact management teams to focus on the most urgent and complex incidents.

"Bobbi is already delivering real benefits for the public and for our staff, and we are proud to be leading the way in exploring how emerging technologies can support modern policing."
