Sentier’s 12-Day fragrance advent calendar stuns me into making an exception

Six perfumes and six candles in 12 days Sentier’s advent calendar makes a strong case for quality over quantity.

I’ve never been a fan of 12-day advent calendars, and Sentier asking me to try their 2026 Fragrance Advent Calendar didn’t exactly change that. To me, advent means 24 days of daily treats, or even 25 if you’re lucky enough to get Christmas Day included. So when Sentier asked me to try their 2026 Fragrance Advent Calendar, I wasn’t exactly sold. But after opening every single door, I’m surprised to say this calendar might just be the exception.

At £109, the Sentier calendar promises £529 worth of goodies, featuring six 10ml perfumes and six 60g scented candles, all housed in a beautifully illustrated keepsake box. Having tried Sentier before, I knew their scents were a bit off the beaten path compared to typical high street offerings. Still, some of these new fragrances genuinely caught me off guard.

The packaging sets the tone immediately it’s sharp, with a proper winter feel that suits the season. Inside, the mix of perfumes and candles is a clever touch, giving you something to wear and something to scent your home.

The six perfume samples are a good size for testing new scents without commitment. My personal favourite was Ardent Cherry Extrait de Parfum. Don’t be fooled by the name this one blends black cherry, warm spices, incense, amber, and sandalwood into a surprisingly rich and complex fragrance.

The other five perfumes Parisian Embrace, Path of Lemons, Balade in Autumn, Noor Riviera, and Méribel each offer a distinct vibe. The candle line-up includes Ombre de Miel, Botanical Sanctuary, Alpine Chalet, Land of Dreams, Whispering Spell, and Lait de Feu, rounding out the sensory experience.

I usually avoid 12-day advent calendars but the Sentier fragrance one changed my mindplaceholder image

But it’s not all perfect. My biggest gripe remains the calendar’s length. Twelve days just feels too short I’d be done well before Christmas even arrives. Also, I wish the standout Ardent Cherry came in a full-size bottle to make the calendar feel truly special. That said, at £109 for what’s essentially a £529 value, I get why Sentier stuck with discovery sizes. It’s a trade-off between quantity and quality.

In the end, I went in sceptical about the 12-day format but came out impressed. While it can’t replace the thrill of a traditional 24 or 25-day advent calendar, Sentier’s offering feels more like a curated fragrance collection than a mere countdown. Would I normally buy a 12-day advent calendar? Probably not. But for this one, I’d happily make an exception if only Ardent Cherry was available in a bigger bottle.
