Late August is traditionally one of the best times to find bargain family holidays before schools return, and Park Holidays has launched a sale offering savings of up to 35% on UK breaks and 30% on touring and camping holidays.

Families who haven't yet booked their summer getaway could now be entering one of the cheapest booking windows of the year.

With just a few weeks remaining before children head back to school, holiday companies are increasingly looking to fill unsold accommodation, creating opportunities for bargain hunters to snap up late deals both overseas and closer to home.

While last-minute flights to Spain, Greece and other Mediterranean favourites continue to fall in price, Britain's mixed summer weather means many families are instead looking for flexible UK breaks that avoid airport queues while still delivering a seaside escape.

Holiday parks, beachside campsites and coastal chalets are among the best places to search for value, particularly as operators begin discounting remaining peak-season availability.

One of the UK's largest holiday park operators has now joined the rush with the launch of its Big Summer Sale.

Holidaymakers can currently save up to 35% on selected holidays and up to 30% on touring and camping breaks by booking through the Park Holidays Big Summer Sale.

The promotion includes holidays from £229, while touring and camping discounts have already been applied to eligible arrivals until the end of August.

Park Holidays operates dozens of parks across England, Scotland and Wales, giving families the choice of beach holidays, countryside escapes and short breaks without the cost of flying abroad.

Among the standout late-summer deals currently available through the Park Holidays sale are:

  • Glendale, Cumbria – seven nights from £499
  • Hengar Manor, Cornwall – seven nights from £524
  • Harts, Kent – seven nights from £529
  • Silver Sands, Scotland – seven nights from £554
  • Steeple Bay, Essex – seven nights from £579
  • Hedley Wood, Cornwall – seven nights from £599
  • Broadland Sands, Suffolk – seven nights from £629
  • Sand Le Mere, Yorkshire – seven nights from £639
  • Tarka, Devon – seven nights from £639
  • Stowford Farm Meadows, Devon – seven nights from £659

One of the headline destinations is Glendale Holiday Park in Cumbria, overlooking the Solway Firth close to the Scottish border. Families can explore the Lake District, visit Hadrian's Wall and enjoy beaches and nature reserves nearby, while the park itself offers children's entertainment, mini golf, sports courts, an activity centre, restaurant, bar and family entertainment throughout the season.

Current availability includes three-night breaks from £129 for a Gold Caravan, with longer summer stays also available through the Park Holidays booking page.

For campers and touring enthusiasts, the operator is also offering up to 30% off touring pitches, camping holidays and camping pods on selected arrivals before the end of August.

As always with late availability, the biggest discounts tend to disappear quickly as accommodation sells out, particularly at coastal parks during the school holidays.

Families looking to make the most of the final weeks of summer can find current availability, touring offers and full terms through the Park Holidays Big Summer Sale.
