This Jackery 1kWh power station is now less than half price at £379

A portable power station with enough output to run a wide range of camping and household equipment has fallen to a final price of £379, putting it at less than half the £899 price displayed by Jackery.

The Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 is currently shown at £399, with an additional offer taking the final price down by another £20. That means buyers can save £520 overall, equivalent to around 58% off the original price shown on the product page.

The deal could appeal to campers, motorhome owners and households looking for a backup source of electricity during a power cut. The Explorer 1000 v2 portable power station has a 1,070Wh capacity and a 1,500W output, giving it enough power for devices such as phones, laptops, lights and cameras, as well as many lower-powered household and outdoor appliances.

Anyone planning to use it with cooking equipment, heaters or other high-draw devices should check the appliance wattage first, as some products can demand a higher surge of power when they start. For suitable equipment, the 1,500W output makes this a more capable option than smaller portable batteries aimed mainly at charging gadgets.

Charging speed is one of the main selling points. Jackery says the portable battery can be fully charged in as little as one hour using its emergency charging mode. That could be useful when there is only a short window to prepare before a journey or an expected interruption to the electricity supply.

The unit is also designed to operate without creating too much background noise. According to Jackery, the Explorer 1000 v2 can run at under 22dB, making it easier to use overnight in a tent, caravan or motorhome without a loud cooling fan becoming a distraction.

Inside is a LiFePO4 battery rated for 4,000 charging cycles. Jackery says this could allow up to 10 years of daily use, while its ChargeShield 2.0 battery system includes 62 layers of protection intended to manage charging, temperature and battery safety.

The Jackery power station can also work as an uninterruptible power supply. Its switch-over time is listed as 20 milliseconds or less, allowing compatible equipment to continue running when the mains electricity goes off. That may be useful for broadband routers, computers and other devices where a sudden loss of power would be inconvenient.

Portability matters with a battery of this size, and Jackery says the newer model is 18% smaller than the previous Explorer 1000. It is still a substantial 1kWh power station rather than a pocket-sized charger, but the reduced dimensions should make it easier to store in a vehicle, garage or cupboard between trips.

The product page shows a rating of 4.9 out of five from 493 reviews, alongside 21 customer questions. A free gift promotion is also being advertised for a limited period, although the exact gift and its availability may change while the offer is live.

At £379, the Explorer 1000 v2 sits at a much more accessible price than its £899 starting point. Readers can view the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 deal and check whether the additional discount and free gift are still available.

As with any portable power station, buyers should make sure its output, connections and charging options suit the equipment they intend to use before ordering.
