After years of defrosting an older freezer, this Hotpoint upgrade has brought some welcome modern technology into the kitchen, with one feature standing out above the rest.
After a decade with an older Hotpoint fridge freezer, upgrading to the Hotpoint Total No Frost 50/50 Fridge Freezer with VitalCare has been a reminder of just how much these everyday appliances have changed.
The standout feature is Total No Frost technology, which has already made one particularly unpleasant household chore a thing of the past. After a month of use, there has been no build-up of ice in the freezer, meaning no scraping, towels or trying to keep frozen food cold while the appliance defrosts.
The freezer drawers have also remained easy to use, without the ice that previously left them occasionally stuck. For anyone fed up with regularly defrosting an older appliance, the Hotpoint No Frost fridge freezer could make a surprisingly big difference to everyday life.
The fast freeze function is another useful addition. It has been particularly handy after larger supermarket trips, helping get frozen food back down to temperature quickly during recent warm weather.
Then there is VitalCare, which is designed to recreate a natural daylight cycle inside the fridge. The light behind the fruit and vegetable drawer changes colour, while the reviewer has noticed fresh produce appearing to stay fresher for longer. It is a feature that is both unusual and, based on the first month, genuinely useful.
There are smaller improvements too. The shelves are easy to adjust, making it simpler to accommodate taller bottles and containers, while the Inverter Compressor makes this Hotpoint fridge freezer noticeably quieter than the older appliance it replaced.
It is not completely faultless. The newer model is slightly narrower than the reviewer's previous fridge freezer, making it important to check dimensions before buying. The door alarm can also be a little overzealous, although it remains a useful safety feature.
After a month, the verdict is looking positive, particularly for the No Frost technology. But does this Hotpoint deliver enough of an upgrade to justify making the switch?
