A family favourite will be coming to Portsmouth this Christmas - with an exciting extra
Christmas fans can enjoy a festive favourite on the big screen this December – accompanied by a live orchestra.
Disney’s The Muppet Christmas Carol in Concert Live to Film is coming to Portsmouth Guildhall on Monday, December 14, as part of a 15-date UK tour.
The special event will see the much-loved 1992 film screened in full while its musical score is performed live by an orchestra, combining the nostalgia of the classic movie with the spectacle of a live concert.
The Muppets' take on Portsmouth-born Charles Dickens' timeless Christmas story stars Kermit the Frog as Bob Cratchit, the put-upon clerk of miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, played by Michael Caine.
Gonzo takes on the role of Dickens himself, narrating the story with the help of Rizzo the Rat. Other familiar Muppet favourites also feature, including Miss Piggy as Emily Cratchit, Fozzie Bear as Fozziwig and Robin the Frog as Tiny Tim.

The story follows the grumpy and self-serving Scrooge as he receives a series of unexpected Christmas Eve visits from the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future.
The spirits force Scrooge to confront his past, present and future and show him the consequences of his miserly ways.
Meanwhile, the kindness of Bob Cratchit and his family helps to reveal the true meaning of Christmas – and ultimately gives Scrooge the chance to change his ways.
The film's music is a major part of the experience. The original score was composed by Miles Goodman, whose credits include Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Little Shop of Horrors, while the songs were written by Paul Williams, the Oscar, Emmy and Grammy-winning songwriter behind Rainbow Connection and Evergreen.
With the film being shown on the big screen and the music performed live, the Portsmouth show could make for a festive night out for families, Muppet fans and anyone looking for a different Christmas experience this year.
