A subtle, refillable car diffuser inspired by luxury fragrances is going viral, offering drivers a sustainable upgrade for under £7
If I'm feeling lazy enough I'll pop to my local car wash. They're a lovely bunch, and they always give me a little foam air freshener as a thank you gift. It always, without exception, goes straight in the bin.
They don't smell very nice, they look cheap and tacky, and every time I get in the car the pungent aroma of (goodness knows what it's supposed to be) is overpowering.
I do like a fresh scent inside my car, though, so I accepted an offer to try out a viral air freshener that uses luxury fragrances and claims to be sustainable.

It's made by a company called Carfume, and the concept is simple. Fill a little container with a high-quality perfume or cologne, let it soak in to a little wooden diffuser, and you'll have your favourite scent filling your nose as soon as you get in for a drive.
Each air freshener pack (and there are loads of them to choose from) comes with the air freshener itself, and a little glass chamber filled with your chosen scent.
I've only tried a few, but Dark Opium is lovely, One Billion really suits my SUV, and I've heard great things about "Alien Spirit", so I'm going to try that next.

That's the thing with these, they're quite addictive. There are so many fragrances to choose from off the shelf that you just want to keep trying them.
And, if you wanted to, you could even add your own. Because each air freshener is refillable.
That's the really appealing thing about these great little air fresheners, they're properly sustainable. When they finally empty out (and it takes a long time, trust me) you just buy a refill. They even look quite nice hanging from your mirror.
The best bit, for me, though, is that the scent they give off isn't in any way overpowering. In fact, unlike like most air fresheners, it's actually very subtle. The scent is there, but it doesn't hit you in the face. I like that.

Carfume also does a range of air-freshening sprays in cans, which give your car a much-needed top-up, and there's even a range of car detailing products.
The cheapest way to buy them online seems to be Amazon which, of course, also gives you fast and free delivery if you're a Prime member.
They're all less than £9, and some are less than £7, so it costs very little to try one out. And I strongly recommend you do. They're excellent.
