Families heading to Alton Towers this May half-term could soon notice a major change affecting their visit

Families planning a trip to Alton Towers Resort this May half-term could soon notice a major change that gives visitors far more time to enjoy the park.

The Staffordshire theme park has confirmed a huge update for guests visiting later this month, with Alton Towers promising families “even more time” to experience its biggest rides and attractions during the school holidays.

The move comes as demand ramps up for May half-term visits, with thousands expected to head to Alton Towers Resort for thrill rides, family attractions and the latest additions to CBeebies Land.

Visitors heading to Alton Towers will still be able to take on iconic rollercoasters including Nemesis Reborn, The Smiler, Oblivion and Wicker Man, while younger guests continue to flock to the park following the arrival of Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies!, described as the world’s first Bluey ride experience.

The resort is also continuing its Big Fun Show Time entertainment schedule throughout half-term, giving families visiting Alton Towers Resort the chance to meet Bluey, Bingo, Bandit and Chilli alongside other popular CBeebies characters.

But the biggest talking point could be the newly-announced change itself, which effectively gives guests extra hours inside Alton Towers during one of the busiest periods of the year.

As part of Twilight at the Towers, Alton Towers Resort will extend its opening hours from 10am until 8pm between May 22 and May 31, giving visitors more time to experience rides, attractions and the evening atmosphere across the park.

The extended hours mean families booking a trip to Alton Towers can squeeze more into a single day visit, with tickets currently available from £39.

Guests wanting to turn the experience into a longer getaway can also book overnight stays through Alton Towers Resort, with short break packages available from £70 per person across the themed hotels and lodges.

Accommodation options at Alton Towers include the CBeebies Land Hotel, Splash Landings Hotel, Alton Towers Hotel and the Enchanted Village Woodland Lodges.

This year also marks the 30th anniversary of the Alton Towers Hotel, giving returning visitors another reason to plan a stay at Alton Towers Resort during the spring break.
