"We're ready": Opening date confirmed for The Red Lion in Southwick following sudden closure last year
Anticipation is brewing following the announcement that a cherished pub will be reopening for the first time in almost a year.
The Red Lion, in Southwick, shut up shop back in March 2025, after the previous landlord decided to move to a different venue instead of renewing the lease at the pub.
The venue, which is owned by the Southwick Estate, has been closed ever since with Fullers’ tenancy of the pub also ending.

However, at the end of last year it was confirmed that plans were in the pipeline to reopen the pub and restaurant - and an opening date has now been announced.
With Paul Osborne and his family at the helm, The Red Lion is set to welcome customers again from Monday, February 16.
A Facebook post on the pub’s page says: “We’re ready to welcome you in with a cosy country pub atmosphere, traditional favourites, comforting dishes, and friendly service.
“Whether you’re stopping by for a relaxed drink or a hearty meal, we can’t wait to share our pub with you.
“Bring your friends, bring your appetite, and come and say hello — a warm welcome is waiting at The Red Lion.”
