LIVE: Wind and rain lashes down on Portsmouth as a weather warning remains in place with a risk of flooding

Wind and rain has been lashing down on Portsmouth and across Hampshire as a weather warning remains in place across the county.

The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for rain which will be in place today (December 18) until 9pm.

“Some heavy rain will affect southern counties of England during Thursday, perhaps causing some disruption to travel, along the with the possibility of some flooding,” the Met Office said.

“Widely 15-25 mm is likely across the warning area, but 40-60 mm may fall in some places, most likely over the Downs.”

The rain has already created some problems today, with flooding on the A27 near Chichester leading to a lane closure. Marwell Zoo and Christmasville in Gunwharf have also announced their closures as a result of high winds.
