Watch how Marwell Zoo's animals are keeping cool in the heatwave as rhinos splash around in water

Temperatures are expected to remain around 30 degrees again today.

Marwell Zoo’s animals are doing their best to stay cool in the heatwave.

As with the rest of us, the heatwave has hit hard for the animals at the zoo in Colden Common, Hampshire. In the video above, you can see what they’re getting up to to try and beat the heat.

Penguins are staying in the water; rhinos are rolling in the mud; and zoo staff are doing everything they can to ensure every animal is cool and hydrated.

Scorching temperatures are meant to ease off over the course of the week, if the Met Office is to be believed - with the potential for some light rain early next week. Even then, the temperature is expected to stay around the 18-21 degree Celsius range.
