'Unsettled' weather and heavy downpours forecast over Victorious Festival weekend

Heavy downpours expected this weekend

An umbrella could be your festival essential this weekend, with thunderstorms and torrential rain set to sweep across the city.

Despite one of the hottest summers on record, the warm weather is not expected to stick around for the three-day Victorious Festival spectacular. The Met Office is forecasting a high chance of rain, with heavy showers and thunderstorms potentially putting a dampener on the festivities.

The weather service said: “A relatively unsettled start to this period, as showers or longer spells of rain are possible across many parts of the UK, along with some strong winds.

“Some heavy bursts and thunderstorms are likely at times. It will likely remain changeable into early September, with rainfall amounts probably above average for the time of year and the potential for some more strong winds at times.”

Taking place from August 28 to 30, Victorious will welcome thousands of festivalgoers for a weekend packed with live music, food, drink and family-friendly activities — with a healthy chance of rain thrown into the mix.
