Snow warning issued for parts of Hampshire by the Met Office
A snow warning has been issued for parts of Hampshire over the weekend.
The Met Office have put a yellow alert in place from 3am until 8pm on Saturday.
The warning covers parts of the county including Basingstoke and as far south as Bordon.
On its website, the Met Office says: ‘A band of heavy snow may bring disruption as it moves eastwards on Saturday.

‘An area of rain will move eastwards through Saturday and is likely to turn to snow as this runs into cold air over east and southeast England.
‘Snow is likely to fall to low levels on the leading edge of the rain area before snow levels gradually rise for many from the west.
‘Given recent wet weather and high river levels with rain and snow falling, then melting some flooding impacts are also possible.’

The warning does not currently cover Portsmouth or any of the surrounding towns.
Residents in areas covered by the warning are being advised to to expect:
- Possible delays or cancellations to rail and air travel
- Possible travel delays on roads stranding some vehicles and passengers
- Some rural communities could become cut off
- Power cuts may occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected
The latest forecast for Portsmouth is predicting heavy rain until 1pm and there will be highs of 9C with lows of 4C.
