A FLOOD alert has been issued for Portsmouth.

The Environment Agency (EA) has put a ‘Flooding is possible - be prepared’ alert in place until 5pm today.

It has been issued due to the tide being ‘higher than normal’ in Portsmouth.

In the alert, the EA says: ‘For 1 hour either side of high water, in Old Portsmouth, the tide may just exceed the top of the main slipway, causing minor road flooding in East Street and disruption to the boat yards at The Camber.
