Eerie scenes as fog blankets Portsmouth throughout the day - even hiding the Spinnaker Tower

There have been eerie scenes across Portsmouth throughout the day (March 9) after a thick blanket of fog swept over Portsmouth - even hiding the Spinnaker Tower.

The tower is a number of landmarks which were hidden, with the thick fog flooding across the city and inland into south Hampshire, following scenes yesterday where places like Butser Hill were also thick with fog.

Low cloud, mist and fog will build this evening, according to the Met Office, continuing to form through the overnight period in places too. Tomorrow (March 10) there will be light cloud and a moderate breeze.
