'Band of rain' and 'scattered showers' forecast after weeks of hot weather
Rain is on its way
Scattered showers and a band of rain will sweep across the city after weeks of relentlessly hot weather.
After enduring multiple heatwaves and health alerts this summer, rain could finally be on the cards this evening (August 18) with grey clouds lining the sky.

The Met Office said there will be a “band of rain pushing through overnight, clearing in most places by dawn”, with a “mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers” tomorrow morning.
The weather service said: “Any early rain clearing, leaving a mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers. These turning heavy at times with the risk of thunder and hail. Feeling fresher. Maximum temperature 25 °C.
“Stayed mixed during Thursday and Friday with slow-moving heavy downpours with the chance of thunder. More settled through Saturday with sunny spells and the odd shower. Temperatures around average.”
