"Unsafe" Lee-on-the-Solent skatepark fenced off as work to create new play and fitness area ploughs ahead
Work is ploughing ahead to create a new adventure playground and fitness area after an “unsafe” skatepark closed down several years ago.
The old Lee-on-the-Solent skatepark is currently fenced off while work, which is being carried out by Proludic Ltd, commences to establish a new play area for young people.

This comes after the skatepark was demolished at the start of last year following a council report that deemed it unsafe and not fit for purpose.
Set to open in the spring the new area will be split into two distinct zones - a ninja trail packed with inclusive play equipment for juniors and teens of all abilities, and a fitness zone for older children and adults.
Council leader Cllr Peter Chegwyn said: "Nothing like this currently exists for older children in Gosport, it will be a brilliant new space to socialise and have fun while being active. At the same time parents and adults will have their own dedicated area to work out.

“This is all part of our commitment to maintaining and enhancing play areas and spaces for people of all ages and abilities in Gosport."
Meanwhile the fitness zone will offer pull-up bars, dip bars, and a sit-up bench, suiting a wide range of abilities and fitness levels.
