Long delays on M275 and Eastern Road before Pompey game due to crash and temporary traffic lights
DRIVERS travelling into Portsmouth faced lengthy delays on Tuesday night after a crash closed one lane on Eastern Road.
The route was blocked southbound near the turn-off for Tangier Road.
As a result a large volume of traffic came into Portsmouth via the M275 instead.
It coincided with high levels of congestion already expected because of Portsmouth FC's match against MK Dons at Fratton Park at 7.45pm.

Drivers also faced a wait because of temporary traffic lights which had been put up near the Star and Garter Pub in Copnor Road.
The road links to Burrfields Road, which is off Eastern Road.
Live traffic maps from Google showed thick red lines of southbound traffic on both the M275, from Port Solent and on Eastern Road, backing up to the A27 slip road at Farlington.
On the Eastern Road collision, a Hampshire police spokesman said: ‘We were called at 4.59pm to a report of a collision involving two vehicles on the slip road from Eastern Road to Tangier Road. No injuries were reported.’
