Waste from recycling lorry caught fire on M3 causing long delays
Waste from a recycling lorry caught fire on the M3 causing long delays, the fire service said.

Fire crews were called to the M3 southbound between junction 10 and 11 around 4pm today to deal with the blaze. The incident left the road partially blocked.
“Stop-start” delays currently remain despite the lorry having been “dampened down” and allowed to continue on its journey.
A fire service spokesperson said: “We were called to a lorry fire on the M3 south, junction 10, at around 4pm today. The lorry, which contained waste for recycling, was dampened down by crews from Eastleigh and Winchester. The vehicle is now leaving the scene and travelling to its destination, where crews will re-assess the contents to confirm the fire is out.”
AA Traffic News said: “Stop-start traffic due to earlier obstruction on the road on M3 Southbound from J10 A31 (Winchester) to J11 A3090 (Winchester South). Congestion to Winchester Services. Restrictions have been lifted. Winchester Services is located between J8 and J9.”
