Trains from Portsmouth Harbour cancelled due to ongoing 'incident' as Southern Rail also warns of delays
“Train services running to and from these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised,” Southern Rail advised.
Multiple trains that were supposed to be leaving Portsmouth this morning have been cancelled due to an ongoing incident.
According to Southern Rail, a signalling fault between Portsmouth Harbour, and Portsmouth and Southsea railway stations this morning (Thursday, September 17) has sparked a deluge of delays and cancellations.
Posting on X, a spokesperson said: “Due to a fault with the signalling system between Portsmouth Harbour and Portsmouth and Southsea, train services running to and from these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised.
“Services that run to/from Portsmouth Harbour will be delayed or may terminate from a different station than normal. You will need to allow an additional 20 minutes to complete your journey as you may need to use an alternative route.”
At the time of publication, the delays from Portsmouth Harbour appear to have eased off, but all upcoming services to London Victoria have been cancelled, up to at least 9.30am.
Passengers are advised to not only allow for extra time to complete their journeys, but also to double-check the train schedule to see if services have been delayed or axed.
