Trains are being 'delayed or cancelled' from Portsmouth Harbour this morning as service changes put in place

Trains may be “cancelled, delayed or revised,” according to a spokesperson.

Trains are being delayed and cancelled across the Portsmouth area this morning (Thursday, July 9), operators have confirmed.

A signalling fault has caused significant issues between Portsmouth Harbour and Havant this morning, with trains having to run at a reduced speed as a result. Trains running towards Fareham and beyond are also falling victim to this fault.

Southern Rail has warned that some services are being cancelled entirely - and have urged passengers to allow more time for their journeys this morning.

Posting on X, a spokesperson said: “Due to a fault with the signalling system between Havant and Portsmouth Harbour trains have to run at reduced speed. Train services running to and from these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised.

“Your journey is likely to be delayed, but we don't yet have an exact estimate of the amount of time. If you are travelling Between Havant and Portsmouth or Southampton this morning, please check your train before you travel and allow additional time for your journey.

“Service changes are being put in place and some trains will be amended or cancelled. Services will not be able to run further than Havant which means there will be no Southern services towards Portsmouth or Southampton.

“You may need to change trains throughout your journey or use anther operator to reach your destination.”
