Passengers are facing problems this evening with a signalling problem causing a trainline to be blocked.
South Western Railway (SWR) reports that a signalling problem has occurred between Hilsea and Bedhampton. The line towards Havant is currently blocked.
“Train services running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised,” the railway company said. “Disruption is expected until 8pm. Engineers are on their way to site. your journey is likely to take longer. We will let you know if this changes or when we have more information.”
Tickets are being accepted on other train services, including Southern Rail trains between Portsmouth Harbour and London Victoria, and Great Western Railway services between Portsmouth Harbour and Southampton Central.
“Replacement road transport has been requested to run between Portsmouth Harbour and Fareham/Havant, but has not yet been confirmed by our bus supplier. If you need any help with your journey, please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point. We are very sorry for any disruption to your journey.”
Southern Rail added: “We've recently been told about this incident, and we are working to get more information on the delays this will cause to your journey. If your train is delayed between stations, please stay on board and listen for updates. You can also ask the staff if you need more information.
“We know where you are and are working to get you moving as soon as possible. For your safety, please don’t leave the train unless instructed. Other trains may still be running, and the tracks can be very dangerous.”
