Three car pile up on A3 results in dual carriageway closure with two people sustaining injuries

The northbound carriageway of the the A3 between B2070 Weston Interchange at Buriton and A272 Winchester Road at Petersfield was closed yesterday evening (February 5) after three cars were involved in a crash.

The incident, which was reported to police at 8.10pm, saw officers and Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue and South East Coast Ambulance Service all attend the scene.

The police have confirmed that two people sustained minor injuries and the road was closed for approximately four hours.

A spokesperson for National Highways said at the time: “Emergency services remain in attendance. The incident is not believed to be serious, however there is a large amount of debris across the carriageway .”

At 12.15am, National Highways confirmed that it was fully reopened.
