"Surprise" as new speed cameras are installed along one of Portsmouth's busiest roads
Two new speed camera have appeared on one of Portsmouth’s busiest roads, much to the surprise of many.
In the past couple of days, the cameras have been installed on either side of the carriageway of Eastern Road on the stretch between Tangier Road and Hayling Avenue - an area where Hampshire Police deploy mobile speed cameras.
However this has come as a surprise to many in the city, with seemingly no notice being given that it was going to happen.
They have seem to have been installed by Hampshire Police, but although Police and Crime Commissioner Donna Jones has previously said that speed cameras would be installed along the top of Portsdown Hill there had been no announcement about the Eastern Road ones.
The News has contacted the Police and Crime Commissioner’s office for a comment.
