Road closure on Hayling Island after collision between a car and a lorry - latest
Huge tailbacks as a result of a collision
Part of the road in and out of Hayling Island remains closed after a collision between a car and a lorry.
The A3023 (Havant Road) was closed on the south side of the Hayling Bridge with traffic backing up both into the Island from the northbound side and all of the way back onto the A27 on the southbound side. However the road has now partially reopened with the traffic now easing.
Emergency services are reported to be on the scene and a diversion was in place along Northney Road which was also heavily congested. Bus services have also been cancelled or delayed.
A spokesperson from Hampshire Police confirmed: We were called at 4.09pm with reports of a collision on Havant Road involving a car and a lorry.
“Emergency services are at the scene and there is currently disruption on the road while the incident remains ongoing.”
