Public inquiry into Stubbington Bypass gets underway today
A PUBLIC inquiry into the Stubbington Bypass is starting today.
A full inquiry by the Department for Transport is taking place into the compulsory purchase order and side roads order over a single objection.
One objection, submitted by a utilities provider, was withdrawn, leaving one objection from a member of the public '“Â who lives outside the works area.
The Stubbington Bypass, if built, would divert traffic around the outskirts of Stubbington, with the goal of reducing traffic delays in and out of Gosport.
Hampshire County Council councillor Rob Humby said: '˜Hampshire County Council has made a commitment to the people of Gosport and Stubbington to improve traffic and travel in south Hampshire and enable long term plans for development and regeneration to come forward.
'˜The Stubbington Bypass is the final piece of a £100 million plus package of road and transport improvements led and implemented by Hampshire County Council in recent years, including the newly opened Newgate Lane South with Peel Common Roundabout, improvements to the A27 and the imminent BRT Eclipse extension.'
