Hampshire traffic: Lanes closed on A34 following crash into central reservation near Tot Hill services

Closures are expected for the rest of the day on a major Hampshire A road after a car crashed into the central reservation.

Drivers travelling into North Hampshire on Tuesday, October 22 may be affected by closures on the A34 after a car crashed into the central reservation early this morning. Emergency repair work is required on the barrier and one lane has been reopened in both directions having initially been completely closed.

Police are advising it may take several hours to fully reopen. A Hampshire police spokesperson said: “Please be aware that the A34 is currently closed between Tot Hill services and Wash Water following a collision. A car collided with the central reservation earlier this morning and caused significant damage to the barriers.

“Luckily nobody was injured, but both carriageways are expected to be closed for several hours while the barriers are repaired by Highways.”

National Highways confirmed on X that a lane has opened in both direction but it may take the rest of the day for works to complete. The post on X said: “Lane 1 (of 2) has now reopened in both directions on the A34 between the B4640 (Tot Hill) and the A343 (Enborne Row) following the earlier collision.

“Lane 2 remains closed both ways for barrier repairs, which are likely to remain ongoing throughout the rest of the day.”
