The M3 has reopened following a police-led incident.

The motorway was closed between junction 11 and 12, just south of Winchester, on Sunday, September 21. The road has now reopened.

A Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson said: “Regarding our recent post about the incident on the M3 and surrounding roads, the road is now open, you should start to move shortly, thank you for your patience.”

National Highways South East have also confirmed the M3 has now reopened. A post on X said: “The M3 in Hampshire has re-opened in both directions between J12 (Eastleigh) and J11 (Winchester) following a police-led incident Thank you for your patience, please have a safe onward journey.“

While the road has reopened there are still delays in the area. AA Traffic News have reported: “Long delays due to earlier police incident on M3 Northbound at J12 A335 (Eastleigh). Closure has been lifted, all lanes are now open but delays remain.”
