M27 Traffic: Lanes reopen after overnight closure for emergency resurfacing work following car fire near Eastleigh

Three lanes of a major motorway have reopened after emergency resurfacing work saw them closed overnight following a vehicle fire.

The incident took place at around 4pm on Wednesday, April 22 on the M27 near junction 5 for Southampton Airport. Traffic was halted at around 5pm to allow for recovery with fire crews on the scene and an investigation taking place.

Lane 4 was open overnight while 1 to 3 were closed for the emergency resurfacing work. National Highways have now confirmed that all lanes have reopned.

National Highways South East posted on social media: “All lanes now open on the #M27 eastbound in #Hampshire within J5 #Eastleigh following emergency resurfacing works. No current delays on approach.”
