M27 traffic: Delays easing after crash en route to A27 earlier today - but one lane still closed

Drivers heading towards Havant and Chichester faced major delays earlier today.

An incident caused major delays towards the very end of the M27 this morning.

On Google’s traffic maps, there were multiple reports of a collision on the M27 eastbound, just past Junction 12 for Portsmouth. This is causing delays for people heading towards the A27 for Havant, as well as those leaving Portsmouth via the M275.

Eyewitnesses have told The News that the eastbound sliproad onto the A27 from the Portsbridge roundabout was closed, with congestion at the top of London Road, Hilsea, along Western Road towards Cosham, and from Cosham down Northern Road.

A spokesperson for National Highways said: “Lane three remains closed in both directions on the M27 in Hampshire within J12 Cosham, and will remain that way until barrier repairs are completed later tonight.

“Currently [there are] no significant delays on the approach.

A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said: This was a two-vehicle incident reported to us at 10:58am today close to Junction 12 of the M27 eastbound.

“Three people reported minor injuries. A lamppost was damaged in the incident.
