M27: Women 'safely escorted' from bridge following concern for welfare report - traffic moving again
A woman has been brought to safety from a motorway bridge following a concern for welfare report.
Officers and paramedics rushed to the scene at the M27 this afternoon (March 30). The AA Traffic Map previously reported that all lanes on the motorway had to be halted, with motorists brought to a standstill.

Stationary traffic was reported in both directions between junctions 8 and 9. A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson said: “We were called just before 4.15pm to concerns for the welfare of a woman on a bridge over the motorway.
“The woman was safely escorted from the bridge and has been taken into the care of the ambulance service.”
Delays of up to 27 minutes were reported earlier this afternoon, but these have now started to ease. Traffic is reported to be slow in the area, according to the AA, but is moving again.
