Wightlink ferry crashes into Gunwharf terminal in Portsmouth 'sustaining damage' with services cancelled
An Isle of Wight passenger ferry has crashed into a terminal with services being cancelled.
St Clare was involved in a heavy berthing incident at the Gunwharf terminal this morning (February 17). The ship regularly transports passengers to and from Portsmouth.
A Wightlink spokesperson said the ship itself and port infrastructure have “sustained damage”, with sailings on specific Portsmouth routes being stopped.

“As a result, we are currently unable to load or unload vehicles or foot passengers,” they added. “We sincerely apologise, but all sailings on our Gunwharf–Fishbourne route are cancelled until at least 3:20pm from Gunwharf and 4:20pm from Fishbourne while we assess the situation and ensure it is safe to resume operations.
“Unfortunately, we are unable to offer alternative sailings on this route before 4:20pm, but our teams are working hard to find solutions that minimise disruption for customers. All other routes are operating as normal.
“We will provide further updates across all our channels as soon as more information is available. Please check our website for the latest travel information. If you have urgent travel plans, we strongly recommend making alternative arrangements where possible.”
