Here’s why part of the M27 was closed down for over six hours on Saturday.
Drivers on both sides of the busy Hampshire motorway faced long delays following an incident between junction 1 and 2 between 1pm and 6.30pm.
The alarm was raised after a concern for welfare of a woman at the scene. While police dealt with the situation the section of M27 was closed down in both directions until it was resolved.
A police spokesperson said: "This was a concern for welfare incident involving a woman reported at 1pm on Saturday, October 17.
"This was resolved at around 7.30pm and the woman was given into the care of health care professionals."
