Southampton Central ranked ninth worst train station in UK, study finds
This train station is one of the worst
A Hampshire train station has been dubbed one of the worst in the country.
Southampton Central, in Blechynden Terrace, has been ranked the ninth worst train station in the UK, a study by Ski Vertigo has found.
Analysing Google reviews in the past year, the research has highlighted how the Hampshire station has 4.01 stars from 266 reviews, with one person saying it “really needs major refurbishment.”

Also featuring on the list of worst stops are Worcestershire Parkway, Peckham Rye, Stansted Airport, Ballymena, Southend Central, Worcester Foregate Street, West Croydon, Gravesend and Crewe.
Alex Dyer, managing director at Ski Vertigo, said: “Station reviews tend to get written in the few minutes someone spends waiting on a platform, so that's really what these scores are judging.
“Plenty of holidays start on a platform too, and those minutes feel a lot longer with a pushchair, a big suitcase and a lift that isn't working. That's why the same gripes keep coming up, far more than complaints about old buildings, and nearly all of them could be fixed. Leaving a bit of extra time for a change of train at one of these stations makes sense this autumn, especially for parents travelling with small children.”
