Signalling 'fault' between Fareham and Southampton Central with commuters 'experiencing delays'
Persistent signalling problems have once again struck commuters using the trains.
Passengers are being disrupted on the northbound route between Fareham and Southampton Central. Southern Rail said services are being delayed as a result.
A social media statement said: “There is a fault with the signalling system between Fareham and Southampton Central. Northbound services towards Southampton Central are experiencing delays.
“One of the signals near Hamble is affected, and Network Rail are on site investigating. Until this is resolved, trains will be stopped at the signal, and drivers will be given verbal instructions to proceed. This takes extra time, and leads to delays.
“Delays are expected until 9.30am. You can still use your normal route, but please leave some extra time for your journey, especially if you need to make connections with local bus services at Woolston or other trains at Southampton Central. This affects Southern services, as well as South Western Railway and Great Western Railway.”
