Emergency services scrambled to "incident" between Fareham and Cosham railway stations - lined reopened

All train lines have reopened following an emergency “incident”.

Emergency services were deployed between Cosham and Fareham this evening (October 7). The route was blocked in both directions, but has since been reopened.

South Western Railway (SWR) reports: “Trains are now running normally following emergency services dealing with an incident between Fareham and Cosham and there should be no further delays to your journey. If you were delayed by 15 minutes or more, you may be entitled to claim compensation.”

SWR said on its website trains may have been cancelled, delayed, or changed. They added that response teams were deployed to the site, with all power on the railway having to be switched off in the affected area.

SWR tickets can be used on Southern trains between Portsmouth and London, as well as Great Western Railway trains between Salisbury and Portsmouth. Routes impacted by the incident include services between Havant and Southampton/Portsmouth, Portsmouth Harbour and Cardiff Central, Portsmouth Harbour/Fareham and London Waterloo, Portsmouth & Southsea and Southampton Central, and Brighton/Littlehampton and Southampton Central.

Delays of up to 60 minutes have been reported by Network Rail.
