Drivers face mile long queues on A259 and A27 in Chichester after flooding results in lane closure
Drivers are facing a mile of queueing traffic and heavy delays this morning after flooding results in a lane closure.
There are increasing delays on the B2145 and A259, in Chichester, this morning (December 18), with congestion also backing up to the A27.
National Highways South East wrote on X, saying: “Lane 1 (of 2) remains closed eastbound between the #B2145 (#WhykeRbt) & #A259 (#Chichester) due to flooding following overnight planned works.”

The post also confirmed more machinery is “en route” to assist with clearing the water and as a result of the lane closure, there are mile long delays stretching to Fishbourne roundabout.
The AA wrote: “Severe delays of 21 minutes and delays increasing on Fishbourne Roundabout Eastbound between A27 and A27 Chichester By-pass (Bognor Road Roundabout).”
