The driver was on the slip road at the Havant junction travelling at around 70mph when the tree collapsed into the road around 8.30pm on Saturday.
Luckily the man was able to avoid the object before alerting authorities to the “danger”. The area was then coned off by traffic police.
The driver said: “I was driving along in the dark and then this tree suddenly falls in front of the car. I couldn’t believe it. I phoned the police and alerted the fire crews. It was very scary.”
