A34 traffic: A-road remains shut after at the M3 after weekend closure overruns due to crash
Weekend closure overruns
One lane of a busy A-road that was due to reopen at 6am this morning following a weekend closure remains shut after works overran.
The A34 was closed northbound between the M3 junction 9 to the Three Maids Hill junction on Monday, September 14, however lane one has now reopened. The southbound carriageway also has one lane closed from the A303 Bullington Cross to the M3. The delay has been caused by a vehicle causing damage to the highways infrastructure following a crash.
A National Highways spokesperson said: “The road was due to re-open at 6am this morning, however due to a vehicle breaching the traffic management and causing damage to highways infrastructure, the re-opening has now been delayed.
“The road is now expected to remain closed until at least 7am.”
Diversions are in place in both directions with National Highways advising to allow extra time for journeys and to plan ahead.
