A dance school entertained shoppers at Gunwharf Quays as they prepare for a trip to Dublin for an international competition.
The youngsters from Timestep Academy of Dance in Portsmouth were at the shopping centre to show off their routines and also express their thanks to Alex Bentley of Bentley’s Tailors in Southsea, who has supported them through the Alex Bentley Young Persons Trust.
There will be 22 Timestep dancers aged between six and 16 at Dance World Cup in July, which will see more than 25,000 contestants from 60 countries compete.
Charlee Gough from the dance school said about Mr Bentley’s help: “Their support will help cover some of the essential costs involved in competing at an international level and ensures that these talented young performers can focus on what they do best — representing England and their local community with pride.
“For the dancers, qualifying for the Dance World Cup is the result of years of dedication, countless hours of training, and a passion for performing. For many, it will also be their first opportunity to compete internationally.
“The families involved hope this story will also shine a light on the importance of local businesses supporting youth talent and the performing arts in the community.”
