"It was truly memorable": Princess Royal visits Citizens Advice Fareham to celebrate charity's 80th anniversary
Celebrations are in full swing at Citizens Advice Fareham as it marks its 80th anniversary with a visit from a member of the Royal Family.
Citizens Advice Fareham has today (January 15) welcomed The Princess Royal as part of the charity’s 80th anniversary to celebrate and recognise the vital work of its volunteers.

Her Royal Highness, who has served as Patron of the National Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux since 1990, spent time meeting with the team of staff, trustees, and volunteers who provide frontline advice to Fareham.
Biddy Mayo, Chief Officer of Citizens Advice Fareham, said:"It was a privilege to welcome Her Royal Highness back to Fareham today.
“Her visit provided a wonderful boost to our volunteers, who give so much of their time to help others. Celebrating our 80th anniversary alongside our Patron was a truly memorable way to honor our history while looking forward to the future of our service."
During the visit, The Princess Royal was given a tour of the charity’s headquarters, and she heard about the increasing demand for the service, particularly regarding debt management, housing, and the cost of living.
Over the last year, Citizens Advice Fareham has supported over 2,400 people, helping them navigate complex challenges and securing over £600,000 in financial gains for the community.
The charity’s specialist projects, including its work with homelessness prevention and income maximisation were showcased, with volunteers also discussing the evolving nature of advice-giving in a digital age.
To conclude the visit, The Princess Royal unveiled a commemorative plaque which celebrates her attendance and recognises over 80 years of Citizens Advice Fareham.
