The office, located at 7 Sea Front, has been part of the seaside destination for more than a decade where it provided local tourist information, tide timetables and seasonal beach parking permits, while also acting as a first-aid drop-in.

A spokesperson for Havant Borough Council said: “Following a temporary closure, the decision has been made to permanently close the Beachlands office on Hayling Island.

“The closure forms part of Havant Borough Council’s wider savings and efficiency programme and reflects the need to make best use of resources while continuing to deliver vital services for residents.”

As part of the Savings and Efficiencies Programme for 2026/27, Havant Borough Council has identified £1.7 million of savings to help bridge funding gaps in the budget.

Residents wishing to purchase Radar keys, shower tokens or access other council services will now be able to do so through alternative channels. This includes online sevices, by telephone and in person at Havant Borough Council’s main office, which is located in the Public Service Plaza, Civic Centre Road, Havant.
