Preparation work set to commence at Bransbury Park for multi-million pound leisure centre
Preparation work at a new multi-million pound leisure centre will commence at the start of next month.
Construction work at Bransbury Park, which will total more than £20m, is set to begin next spring, with preparation work lined up at the start of January.
The new leisure centre, in Bransbury Road, will come equipped with a swimming pool, GP surgery, along with a relocated play area with brand new equipment.

From January 5, 2026 the hard courts and astroturf court will be closed to the public until the project is finished in 2027 where a new new astroturf court and a multi-use games area will be created.
A spokesperson for the Portsmouth City Council said: “The existing playground will stay open for now, and we'll keep it that way for as long as possible before construction of the building begins in spring 2026.
“We were hoping to keep the existing play area open until the new one is ready. However, due to changes in the programme there will be a short gap before the new play area is open, but we’ll do our utmost best to keep this to a minimum.”
Work on the new playground is due to start in a few weeks time, with the council aiming to provide exact dates in due course. During the short period of time when the playground will be closed, the play facilities at Milton Park or Fort Cumberland Road can be accessed.
There will also be contractors in the area working on some of trees.
More updates to follow.
