Portchester lunch for two good causes

SIXTY people gathered to take part in a charity lunch to raise money for two good causes.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Fareham, Councillor Mike Ford and his wife Anne, organised the fundraising lunch in support of their chosen charities – The Dave Wellman Cancer Trust and Gosport & Fareham Inshore Rescue Service, known as Gafirs.

Gafirs chairman Keith Thomas spoke at the event about the work it does.

Nearly £400 was raised at the event, which took place at the Parish Hall, Castle Street in Portchester on Sunday.

Mr Ford said: ‘We decided to support those two charities as they are local and independent and they work very hard.’
