MP quizzed by eager school students
PUPILS from a school in Havant had the chance to grill their MP in a question-and-answer session, as part of UK Parliament Week.
Students from Oaklands Catholic School asked Havant MP Alan Mak about a range of topics, from tuition fees to the British voting system and how politics is funded.
The event took place as part of UK Parliament Week – an annual scheme to engage and involve people across the country in politics.
Head of politics at Oaklands School, Vicci Mason, said: ‘It was fantastic to have Parliament week rounded off with our students being able to ask their local MP his thoughts on the issues that really matter to them.’
Havant MP Alan Mak said: ‘I was delighted to meet with some of the students from Oaklands School today, all of whom had such thoughtful questions.
‘UK Parliament Week is a fantastic initiative as I really believe it is important as a local MP to get out and inspire the next generation.’
